Manarola
This morning we took the train to Riomaggiore and spent a nice morning exploring. We found a great beach tucked away from the main tourist area with only a handful of other people on it. There was a very narrow path cut into the cliff face to reach it so not easily accessible but we spent a nice couple of hours in the sunshine building pebble towers and Toby spent a lot of time climbing the rocks. Someone had painted a colourful picture of some of the cliff top buildings on one of the rocks. Everything seems really pretty and decorative round here.
Out next stop was Manarola which was again very picturesque. We walked a little way along the cliff path and debated continuing on to the next village but the path didnt look too clear in places so we decided not to risk it as it had got late in the day.
We had the most amazing meal out at a tiny little restaurant at the bottom of our street. We sat outside on tiny tables and had a massive plate of antipasti to share followed by pasta and the most amazing flat breads straight out of the oven, all washed down with a couple of glasses of red. The dining experience was quite intimate and we got chatting to an Amercian couple on the next table (which was only cm's from ours!). They had travelled to Italy after spending two weeks in London. They complained that Italian train times were a little random but thought our trains were amazing?!
Luckily Tobes and Eva were on best behaviour even though it was way past their bedtime and we were complemented on how well they behaved. Going to be sad to leave Cinque Terre tomorrow.
Extra pic of Eva on the beach in Monterosso this evening. She just looked so beautiful with her hair all curly in the salty sea air.
