Chastleton House

With the promise of a dry afternoon, Mr E and I took a picnic lunch to Chastleton House, near Moreton-in-Marsh.

On arrival, it was like stepping back in time, as very little has changed in 400 years. The house was built for Walter Jones and stayed in the same family until 1991, when it was bought by the NT. The Trust spent 7 years making it safe for the public but did very little to 'improve' it, leaving it exactly as the family lived in it.

These Jacobean 'Fiat' glasses caught my eye. They would have been used secretly  to toast the "King over the water".
