St. Philips Church
The ruins of this 1700's church are in Brunswick Town in our county. It is now a North Carolina historical site. These walls and the foundations of a number of houses are all that's left. Today was my birthday, so a casual outing to several nearby locations was my choice. We ended with a great Thai dinner in Southport, NC. The extra photo was also taken at Brunswick Town. The land for Brunswick Town was chartered from George I. His heritage is why our county and this early settlement are called Brunswick. George I was King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1 August 1714 until his death, and ruler of the Duchy and Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg (Germany) in the Holy Roman Empire from 1698.
