Oystercatcher

Technically the Eurasian Oystercatcher - but as its the only one of the eleven varieties we see I think we can shorten his name.
It was a predominantly wet day today - but late morning treated us to some breaks in the clouds - so after our lazy start (can you get train-lag???) pooch and I grabbed our chance to have a wander onto Coalpit Hill to see what we could see.
The fells are alive with birds at the moment - but whilst we saw skylarks, curlews, black grouse, pheasants (both escapees), wheatears, buzzards and lapwings - it was the Oystercatcher who posed best for today's blip.

By the time we were back it was raining again - so off to Kendal to meet with fellow blipper & always entertaining Fenner P
