Lake Tekapo

Just when we thought New Zealand couldn't get any more beautiful, we arrived in Lake Tekapo to see a blazing turquoise coloured lake. This luminous colour is created by rock flour from the glaciers. We went for a walk to see the church of the Good Shepard and then we climbed up to the top of Mount John to get brilliant views of the lake, township and surrounding mountains (rewarding ourselves with the most amazing muffin at the cafe!) To top it all off Lake Tekapo is in the middle of UNESCO Sky Reserve- it was incredible to go stargazing at night, although very cold...
