Old Man

Another day working in Derby today, but I had the car with me this time because I was planning to visit friends in Tamworth for the evening. On my way to Tamworth I took a detour to Calke Abbey for a brief stroll in the estate park.

I opted for the Ancient Trees Walk, the highlight of which is the Old Man of Calke, an oak tree believed to be over 1200 years old and still growing healthily.

When I got there I found that it would be better to visit in the morning when the sun would be shining onto it rather than behind it, but I still quite like this photo.
