The Calf
The forecast wasn't too good today so we planned a short walk down in the south of the island. Here we are ascending to Mull Hill and Meayll stone circle.
Here we are looking back from the moorland down to the Calf of Man an island across the sound at the southern tip of the IoM.
We set off from Cregneash village most of which is a recreated village (by Manx Heritage) of thatched cottages and farms portraying life 150 years ago. They have the Manx Loughton Sheep with their dark wool and unique 4 horns.
The weather got better rather than worse and we went down to the Sound, one of my favourite places on the island, for a close up look at The Calf. In the distance on a clear day like today you can make out the Mountains of Mourne in N. Ireland and also watch seals on the rocks. The water here is very turbulent were the two currents meet.
We had a lovely lunch in the sound cafe but eschewed the Loughton lamb broth!
Off home tomorrow.
