Residential Red Zone - five years on

We biked through the suburbs of Dallington and Winsor. These were hit hard by the Canterbury earthquakes due to both the Avon River and many tributaries in the form of creeks and small lakes in the area.  I know over 3000 homes have been demolished in Christchurch. This area has a few patches of houses but is now mainly decaying streets, lamp posts, street signs and the remains of gardens.  The river is still beautiful but more back to nature than it used to be.

We biked to where a house I once owned stood.  It was eerie to walk around the 'section' and think what used to be there.
