Christchurch - a work in progress

Doesn't look much like the heart of a big city?  Four + years after major earthquake devastation, there is a lot of sky around!

Dave and I biked into the CBD today.  About 3/4 of the way was on dedicated cycle paths which is GREAT.  The remainder was not as hair-raising as it would normally be - with most of the shops closed the traffic was reasonably light.

Still loads of empty space, still loads of demo.  But a number of new buildings like the one in the left of this picture. The one to the right I imagine is to come down.

Beautiful autumn day.  Our ride was 21kms in total.
