Emirgan Korusu

This lovely picture was taken in the Emirgan Korusu when I went there with my mom and dad. With the spring's arrival, the municipality did a great job of looking after flowers and making this park magnificent again. I loved the creativity with the piano and the kids that are made out of leaves, and the tulips were absolutely gorgeous! This photo is meaningful to me, as it reminds me of spring and a wonderful day I had with my family. It is also nice to see that a park is looked after instead of being destroyed.

I believe that Istanbul needs more green to it. The inner parts of the city are all buildings, especially counties such as Atasehir and Umraniye, and day after day, parks are being destroyed to build more buildings. Even the parts that are looking at Bosphorus, such as Bebek and Emirgan are getting greyer and greyer everyday. The areas near bosphorus was nothing but green back in the eighties, but now we are losing more green each day. I am afraid that a day will come, when we look out of the window of the school, we will see more buildings than trees. Or did that day already come?
