Bannockburn Sluicings

After camping by Lake Dunston we decided on a walk instead of tasting some of Central Otago's finest at Cromwell, as ages ago "A Cycling Granny" posted a blip of what looked like a very different walk. And so it proved. It was only a short one of a few km, but so interesting to read the information posts about the alluvial mining in the late 19th century. The weathering, erosion and mine workings had created interesting formations, and the views over the vineyards to distant hills were stunning.

After our walk we headed up the gorge and stopped at Roaring Meg for the view, before heading over to Queenstown.
