Another insect – I think it is a Black Field Cricket.
Crickets are medium-sized (0.5-2 cm), brown or black insects with rounded heads and long antennae. Males are known for their chirping songs. They live in low vegetation and in dry plant detritus, often hiding in burrows or under rocks. There are 5 native species of crickets in New Zealand, plus several introduced ones.
