Shark!
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING MY DOLPHINS ONTO 6 SPOT OF POPULAR PAGE - I AM DELIGHTED WITH THE RESPONSE FROM YOU ALL
I am in Waipu Cove visiting my friends parents, my friend now lives in the states but her parents are super lovely and we enjoyed a BBQ dinner with them last night and today my friends dad asked if we wanted to do some fishing. I have never been fishing and Chris is not keen, but we felt it rude to say no as he clearly wanted to show us 'his' beach and his nifty bit of kit to fish. This kit sits on the beach and you hook bait onto the line and then line then whizzes out to sea on a motor type device. We put 26 hooks on and the line went out to sea 2km. After a good hour of sitting on the beach (thank god for a hat ad sunscreen) the line and the motor thingy gets pulled (by motor) back in and there should be fish on the line! We got two fish but they had to go back as they were too small and then to all of our surprise this baby shark had got caught on the line. My friends dad did an amazing job getting the line off the poor thing and successfully put the shark back into the water. I felt really sorry for all of the fish caught. I love fish....but well, I found it a little sad for them that they may have been in pain being caught on a hook.
A unique experience, not sure I will repeat it but I wanted to share the experience in my journal
