Raupo.....

Typha orientalis commonly known as bulrush, cumbungi in Australia and raupo in New Zealand. It is a wetland plant that grows on the edges of ponds, lakes and slow flowing rivers and streams.

Raupo was useful to Maori. The rhizomes were cooked and eaten, while the flowers were baked into cakes. The leaves were used for roofs and walls and occasionally for canoe sails. Maori introduced raupo to the Chatham Islands.

A quiet wander round the lakes this morning enjoying the warmth of the sun after a cool morning. I rested my eyes this afternoon.

Thank you for all of your lovely words, stars and hearts for my little Praying mantis, he had a smile for everyone :))

Happy Thursday everyone :)
