Easter Weekend
Typically, Easter Weekend has been a bit of a wash out. We picked the Grandkids up on Friday afternoon, and brought them back for a weekend of planned entertainment.
The idea was: Saturday, Stirling Castle, using our Historic Scotland membership to check out the 'Weekend of Mirth', viewing the promised Court Jesters and entertainments of old. We told the Bandits they could dress up (Ida in her Medieval Lady outfit, and Arlo in his Knight costume). Sadly, at about 2am on Saturday, Ida started throwing up. Arlo was decanted into the other bedroom, and I slept in with her; we were up every 2 hours until 7.30, when she fell asleep undisturbed for an hour. Saturday was therefore a day of washing soiled bedding, and looking after a tired wee girl. Granny was pretty knackered too!
Saturday night, I was going to see my nephew's band with my sister, and I barely managed to stay awake through the noisiest set in the world!
Today, we were going to take the kids to see a small-guage railway near us, which only opens four times a year. Sadly though, between the gale force winds, torrential rain, and hellish sleet and hailstorms, we felt it was probably not the best way to spend Easter Sunday. Instead we had an Egg Hunt in the house, then played board games, before going to visit Great Granny and then going to the movies.
I'd like to report that Zootropolis was a great hit, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, Pops (G) fell asleep during it, and since it was so busy and we had to sit in the front row, I am now nursing a major sore neck from sitting at the most un-natural angle!
Today's blip was taken after the Egg Hunt was completed and breakfast had been eaten (muffins with Nutella, orange squash made with sparkling water, and Coco-Crispies - "After all, it IS Easter Granny!"), when the kids got down on the floor with the dog for a Rocky-pamper session.
We took them home after the film, and had tea in Burntisland with Mummy and Daddy, before coming home to watch Gordon Buchanan with his Tribe this week in the Kalahari, and then Gogglebox.
So lovely to be off tomorrow too - although I'll probably spend the whole day cleaning up after our lovely wee visitors!
Hope everyone had a lovely Easter too, whatever you were doing.
