Often Noticed...

...seldom really seen.
For those of you who travel the Trans-Pennine Motorway - aka M62 - you may well have noticed this boundary marker (there's one on each side of the Motorway) placed just beyond the hard shoulder on the western side of Junction 22 (Windy Hill).
It always seemed odd to me that they put a Boundary Stone with a commemorative plaque in a place where you are not allowed to stop and read the inscription.
One of the advantages of being chauffeured around is that opportunities arise whilst travelling that are not available when driving.  A request was issued to slow down and I stuck my camera out of the window.
I can now reveal to the Blip World that the inscription on the plaque reads as follows:
"This plaque marks the boundary between the counties of Lancaster and York and was unveiled by The Queen on the occasion of Her Majesty's inaugral visit to the Lancashire Yorkshire Motorway M62 on the 14th October 1971"
Not many people know this :-)
