Big Beauty

Here is the spider that built the web that caught the drone fly three days ago. I went out before dawn hoping to get a shot of her, and she she gave me just one shot before she disappeared into her bolthole. She is a garden orb web spider, Eriophora pustulosa. They are native in that they probably ballooned their way across the Tasman from Australia.These spiders come in a variety of colours and patterns, but you can easily ID them by the five peaks on the abdomen. This particular female is large, and her web measures 78cms across.
