Tarn Moor
Waking to a fantastic blue sky it seemed like it was intended to make me follow the physio's advice and up my mileage a bit - so we put a flask and some flapjacks in a rucksack and set off to Sunbiggin Tarn. At first we were on the lanes but then we picked up the Coast to Coast path and wandered out across fields and onto the moor - the wind was chill and a glance to the East confirmed that the beautiful blue sky was slowly, but steadily turning to cloud.
The fields around Stony Head were full of tiny lambs and once we got onto the moor proper the cries of the lapwings filled the air - it was a great day to be out - and apart from one distant runner we hadn't seen a soul. We stopped at some nice sitting rocks on a little rise where the Dales Way comes through for a snack and a warm - then made our way on to the Tarn which as ever had some twitchers, snoozers and picnicer's.
Back via the lanes as pooch was flagging - but stopping for some lovely C&C&C* at our old neighbours pooch got enough of a second wind to play with now not so little puppy Herman.
& it even stayed nice enough to paint the gates in the afternoon sun, first of the 'outside jobs' done.
