Pátzcuaro Specialty
With Easter just around the corner, the town of Pátzcuaro is full of visitors and people selling to visitors. The street around the Plaza de San Francisco has been transformed into makeshift kitchens for a regional tamale specialty that is only available this time of year. There were half a dozen of these big pots full of tamales cooking over open fires as we walked by. Of course, each asked if we wanted to buy one, but plain tamales without any filling is not our favorite. Lots to see, however. Check out the little girl hidden in the pile of cardboard to the right of the woman in purple.
