Songkhla Kitchen

Today was my half day at work.

I needed to go to Asda on the way home, just for a few bits so decided to try the 'Songkhla Kitchen' on the way back home.

This is a little mobile kitchen that parks behind the Furnimax store in Accrington on weekdays. I've driven past so many times and vowed to stop there for lunch one day.
Today was the day.

The lady who runs it is called Bia and what she can't do in that tiny kitchen isn't worth doing!

I'd gone after the lunch time rush, which sounds like a good thing as she said walk in customers can face up to a 2 hour wait for food at peak times!!!

We chatted quite a bit and she told me that many local businesses place big orders on a weekly basis, so during the main lunch times she is kept busy fulfilling those orders.
She does a 'curry of the day'; today's was a yellow curry but she'd sold out of that, so I went for the good old green chicken curry.

Bia will cook whatever you order to your taste; I said the spicier the better for me and it certainly didn't disappoint it made my nose run which is always a good sign in my book. It was fantastic! Just as I remember it from my visits to Thailand; I could have been back on Soi 6.

Quite a few Chinese takeaways now offer green and red curries, but I've never found one that tasted just so; it obviously takes a traditional, authentic Thai cook to make it.

It's not somewhere I would go for lunch every day, but I will definitely go again but ring my order through early to beat the queues!.
