Dust and Rust Vintage Store

So vintage I think it would fall apart if you tried to move it! We have both been under the weather today and it was another hefty drive to get us to Motueka so I think this journal entry will be brief.
From Westport we followed the stunning Buller River in its Gorge for much of today's journey. Compared to the Rainforest crashing, roaring rivers, the Buller was much more majestic in its gentle meandering amongst steep sided forested valleys in its journey to the coast and the Tasman Sea. Later the valley opened up and we were back to homesteads and poplar trees and deer farming. We stopped in Murchison for a cuppa and doing a turnaround to reach the cafe down a side street I spotted this truck which is the main feature of the Dust and Rust Vintage Store. It made me think Fred Dibnah and I could imagine men of a certain age in oily overalls standing around this place planning what they were going to do with all the junk their wives had made them remove from the house!
Just a couple of creeks of note today, there was too much focusing on Tom Tom to warn Tony of tight bends on high passes: Dough Boy Creek, Hawk's Crag Creek and Handrail Creek (one for the orienteers there!)
The Motueka Valley was brimming over with fruit of all kinds and there were lots of 'honesty stalls' at the side of the road where you could buy. We passed through Tupperware (Tapawera) whose Kiwi Museum looked like it could comfortably fit two people with a bit of personal space, so I hope they don't get too many coach parties!
Here in Motueka we had lunch at a cafe bar where the owner/manager went to great lengths to find something which Tony would eat.....and he succeeded and both our meals were delicious. I've slept for a couple of hours then we have been out for an evening walk around the bay where the local folk have built an excellent walkway from which we spotted grey heron, white heron, spoonbills, oystercatchers, grey cormorant and pied oystercatcher fishing in the pools left by the receding tide. Now there are cicadas outside the Van!
