Sailing date

We’re officially into Spring now, and at the beginning of Easter week and the waterfront was looking particularly inviting today.
These craft are on the River Hamble at Bursledon, just a short sailing distance from the open waters of the ever popular sailing waters of the Solent.
Yet whichever way you view the river from this spot the extent of craft on the river seems endless — sail boats,  motor cruisers, dinghies or RIBS they are all somewhere on the river, and you can bet your life that this weekend is going to see plenty of activity on the river by these craft as well as those in Southampton Water and the Solent  itself.
Today it was a scene of tranquillity from the shore at the Jolly Sailor pub which sits on the edge of the river, and was immortalised by the BBC Sunday evening programme of the 1980s, Howards’ Way which was filmed on the river and frequently featured the Jolly Sailor.

Today’s visit was no more than a lunchtime visit with sailing friends for a coffee and a bite to eat, but I’ll be following closely the movements on the water this coming weekend.
