Pink Kisses
... is the name of these plants apparently. They were bought yesterday after lunch with Ann and Janette at local garden centre. They are still in a box but I am assured they will get planted in pots soon.
Reflecting today on a Holy Week story about a hospitality and tender care for a valued family friend on a hard journey. Precious perfume is used by one used to caring to express their feelings of love for the guest. This is contrasted with the attitudes of onlookers who seem less generous and with the coming confrontation with the authorities.
It reminded me of a lovely picture by Dinah Roe Kendall that illustrates a related scene in a modern setting that really brings it home to me. http://pin.it/f_Q-WRT
Through the day this seemed to resonate with:
1. Our journeys and lunches with Ann on Sundays and the gift of friendship over food.
2. The ongoing support, love and friendship offered to Janette and I by many people.
3. The treatment received by disabled people in our society, contrasting those who value all people for whom they are and the attitudes of the authorities and the welfare system that should be challenged.
4. Undertaking with great care the cleaning and change of dressing for Janette's PICC line (look it up!) needed each week. A practical task but at least one thing that reminds me about and enables me to show my love and support for her on a hard journey.
