Stella performance
Here's me, EdiSteve and harpist Elizabeth-Jane Baldry after the closing night film of Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema, the original version of Stella Dallas from 1925.
The movie itself, starring Belle Bennett and Ronald Colman, is wonderful, a gorgeous weepie (you may know the Barbara Stanwyck remake), but what made this night especially magical was the score. Stephen Horne composed a live soundtrack for piano, flute and accordion - all him - and harp, that was Elizabeth. The result was lush, melodic... the perfect melo to the drama. Hopefully the event will tour - if it comes anywhere near you, don't miss it.
