The photo that never was
I should be posting the fabulous view from the apartment we visited tonight, but the place, the company, the meal and the wine were too good and photography slipped my mind. Instead, I offer you the Campo de Santana, in downtown Rio. We were glad to see so many people wandering through the park, apparently unconcerned with security, as it’s not renowned for its safety.
This evening was wonderful, though. We were visiting Alison, who has recently included our place in Copacabana on her excellent site, Hidden Pousadas Brazil. I hope it’s not an offence against Blip custom to include the link to our page, here.
Alison’s place is also on the site, and in a totally different class from ours – five star, I’d say. It’s a simply beautiful penthouse apartment, on two floors, with a magnificent, wide-angle view of the Christ statue and the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas (behind Ipanema). I may be shooting myself in the foot by adding the link to her page (here), but it’s really worth a look .
Alison had whipped up a delicious stir-fry and we were deep in discussions of whether or not she should leave Brazil for good, as planned, when her next guests arrived, a mother and daughter from England. It was fun to meet them and to see their delight at the accommodation, all arranged by the daughter, but we thought we shouldn’t outstay our welcome, and slipped away fairly soon.
