How did that happen?

One minute I was fast asleep in Warwickshire, the next I'm on  a canal in Venice.
We arrived here early afternoon, and enjoyed  a quiet meander through the back streets and over numerous bridges and ate lunch at the side of a small canal before catching a vaporetto to Murano, a trip of only about 10 minutes across the lagoon.
My extra is of a canal on Murano, where our hotel for the next few nights is situated right on the water's edge.
