Travelling
Just before a trip I always have a strong sense that I don't want to go. It always seems that it will be too much hassle, or I decide to worry about the unknown.
Luckily, I am very good at ignoring myself and going to pastures new. The excitement generally kicks in once I'm the airport and then just builds once I'm wandering new streets, eating new food and speaking to new people.
I had time to reflect a lot on this trip as it was solo. My main conclusion was that I have to make sure that I am a perpetual traveler. The move back to the UK is daunting. It's easy to focus on how little disposable income everyone has and how much my life is going to change. I need to perpetually remind myself that home, abroad, around the corner, it doesn't matter. In the words of my favourite animated grumpy old man, adventure is out there!
