Venice to Bled

So after a hot, sweaty and sleepless night in Venice (no ideas please...the room had no air con... Dwelody have not reached that stage of their relationship yet! ) we packed our bags and headed to the train station. Again, looking like sweaty messes. This is a continuing theme of this trip.

Got our train with 1 minute to spare then rushed around Venice's suburban train station trying to find our coach to Ljubjiana. More running around with our big backpacks in the blazing heat...you've guessed it...sweaty...mmmmm. Turns out non-english speaking Slovenians are not helpful AT ALL when you are trying to find a coach. They instead like to talk really loudly in Slovenian, try and rip you off by buying another coach ticket, then walk off. Luckily we managed to find the right coach with 5 minutes to spare.... You will notice that we like to push how late we can be for our transport on this trip. Makes it faaar more exciting...

After arriving in Ljubjiana, we quickly jumped on another bus to Lake Bled. We finally found our hostel after clambering up a few hills (much to Melody's misery). However, it was definitely worth it. Lake Bled is beautiful (see picture) and as soon as we dumped our bags in our hostel we headed straight to the hostel bar to meet the adorable Greg our hostel/bar man and ordered a first of many ciders in our very own 'George Best Bar'.

We managed to cook some food for once. It is surprising what you can do with sachets of pasta, a microwave and a kettle. (Monies are running low... however Kyle McQueen you would have definitely disowned us if you knew what we had eaten!) BUT, Melody loved it. Of course she did... it contained meat and cheese... she rarely needs much else in her life and these two food groups will make her very happy.

Standard dolling up occurred followed by more drinks from Greg. Turns out he also likes to give his guests (LOTS of) free shots...We then joined the Bled bar crawl with 20 (yes 20!) young Dublin boys and JEDWARD!!! The ONE night we don't take a camera out!

Turns out that Slovenian bars are very cheap and very generous with their spirit measures. This did not pan out the best for Dwelody. We coped better than the Irish boys at least... as they were all 17-18 years old you can imagine their reaction to alcohol...projectile vomiting for some!

Dwelody continued onto the last bar to be given THE MOST DISGUSTING AND LETHAL COCKTAIL of all time by the bar crawl leader, yet it did fuel us to do another rendition of the Call Me Maybe dance routine on a table (Another recurring theme..!?) All in all, a very good night, despite Melody not quite comprehending where the hell we were in Europe.

Lots of love,
Dwelody xx
