Yin and Yang
We did our monthly Wetland Bird Survey today, setting off at dawn. The reservoir is always busy on Sunday - anglers, rowers, joggers, dog walkers, so we've taken to doing the survey on Monday. However, as we have funeral to attend tomorrow, we reverted to Sunday. We were sure to set off at first light to minimise the disturbance. It was hazy and atmospheric, although it was clear enough to see the birds we were counting. Nothing new or unusual, but plenty of singing going on, especially Song Thrushes. There are always large numbers of Mallard around and these two were particularly photogenic today.
The haze burnt off later, leaving a lovely day. I did some gardening but hardly seemed to make an impression. Still, it was nice to be out in the lovely warm sunshine.
