St Swithin's ....pithins down.....

According to legend, if it rains on the feast day of Saxon bishop and saint Swithin on July 15, this Sunday, it will rain continuously for 40 days, but if does not rain then 40 days of clear weather will follow.

It rained this morning. Let's just hope auld Swithers got it wrong!

We bought extra papers this weekend to see if we can find somewhere where there might be some sun and no rain. We could go to Dubai, or Florida or Capetown but that would require buckets of dosh and I'm not sloshin' around in the stuff.

The answer seemed to be a cheap flight (from a bucket shop?). "The price you see is the price you pay" said one operator but before you saw the price you'd added on a luggage charge, large bag charge, extra bag charge, cabin luggage charge, food charge, sit with your wife charge, xfer from airport charge, credit card charge, fast track at airport charge, insurance charge... We have our own insurance but one fly operator wouldn't accept the details unless you ticked their box - cheating ***gers. Our £55 tickets to Rome had reached £218 each before I cried, "Enough"! Do these people think we just fell out of the trees?

Or I could just book a ticket to Corphew and join my friends from Port Appin.
