The quintessential duck

Went for a walk in the park along the river today hoping for a repeat of last years golden eagle making it's way north along the river. No such luck, but there were song sparrow and woodpeckers. The ducks were not being very cooperative : they were moving down a slough  back to the  river  in a hurry. They were all decked out in spring finery and very green. Mallards!
