A Day Worth Recording

Rail

We usually manage a mix of hills, sea and industrial heritage on our holidays. Yes, I know beach, sunbathing and bars is probably more normal but if you've been reading this journal for long you should have noticed we're not exactly a 'more normal' family.

Today was the industry fix on the Dean Forest Railway. This is the last remnant of the Severn and Wye railway network whose primary purpose was to move coal and iron ore from the forest to the coast at Lydney.

We used the train to travel up to Parkend where we went for another lengthy walk in the sun. Yes, I did say sun.

Afterwards we briefly explored Lydney as being the nearest we were going to get to any 'sea' this holiday - the Severn Estuary.
