A statue

Another day of Edinburgh Independents Beer Festival, and the sun came out! It was a lovely sunny day, between bars I managed to capture this image at the junction of George St. (named after the monarch at the time of construction, George III) & Frederick St. (named after George IIIs father ) The street was designed and built in the late 1700's as the main street of Edinburgh's "New Town" to expand Edinburgh beyond the "old town" on the south side of what is now Princes Street Gardens (back then it was Nor' Loch).

The statue is of William Pitt the Younger who was prime minister at the time of construction of George St.

Today George Street is a mixture of fashion boutiques, bars and cafes, which tend to be of the more erm... "expensive" variety, although not exclusively, there are a couple large Wetherspoons pubs too. Many of the restaurant and cafes have outdoor seating on the pavement and today they were packed, it actually felt like summer!
