Dave cruises the Mekong Delta
We spent the morning driving 160km to the Mekong region in heat and traffic. Luckily we had good AC in our well driven minibus but it still took us almost 3 hours. Our boat awaited with a five course lunch ready for the table and time afterwards to sit on deck and survey the delights of the Mekong Delta. Dave was made for this job and looked the part as he took his seat at the head of the ship.
As the temperature dropped in the late afternoon, we had a chance to explore one of the islands that pepper the region. We were accompanied by one of the guides from the ship who knew a fair bit about the local wildlife and kept us amused with cheery jokes in broken English. Plenty of time later for a few Saigon Beers and another Vietnamese banquet.
We continued to cruise through the evening passing varied sizes of boats, some with lights, some without. We anchored well after we had gone to bed which was a pity, because the ship acoustics seemed to focus the noises of the engine into the cupboard beside my bed.
