A Smile For Great Granddad

Tess's Dad, Ron, passed away peacefully this morning, exactly a year to the day since he moved into the care home.

We'd been sitting with him and talking to him but had come home because Chris, Kate, Joel & Sophie were coming for Mother's Day lunch. Apparently, it was only a couple of minutes after we'd left that he passed away. We'd literally just walked the 5 minutes it takes to walk home and got in the front door when they phoned to tell us.

It was good to have the family together to share memories, laughter and tears and to raise a glass to his memory.

I wanted to post a happy blip in his memory and what could be happier or more guaranteed to lift your spirits than Sophie's beaming smile.

His dementia meant that Ron forgot more and more over the past year but he never once forgot Sophie's name.
