Another archaeological amble

It was cold - snow flakes fell at times - but it was crystal clear and the colours of the Uist lochs was stunning.
We circled and then climbed, Unival, which is all of 140m (having not known the height of Eaval in the pub quiz last week that could be useflu info...) but stands alone and proud of the lochans and bogs on the interior of North Uist. As a consequence you do get stunning views. Barra to the S, St Kilda to the W, Skye to the E and snow covered hills of Harris to the N all helped.
The archaeology was interesting too, particularly the chambered cairn on the W flanks of the hill and the "souterrain" to the SE. There are some images in the extra photos bit.
And then in the evening back to the Westford Inn when a local band called Eabhal were playing. We thought it started at eight whilst in fact it was ten and so unfortunately the six of us had to sit there drinking some rather good beer until the set started. A midnight retreat home ended the day.
