The Nursery

Two cows calved yesterday, the second by complete surprise.  T had just finished helping the first and had returned to the farmhouse for a cup of coffee to give the cow and calf time  to settle by themselves. He then went down and found another calf from a cow who showed no sign of calving earlier - totally unexpected!  These are the three older ones, the other three are round the corner and there is just one more to calve.

This evening T, K, N  and I went to the Thimble for supper in the Piddle Valley.  We hadn't been there for years and were not disappointed!
