Chair restoration.......update.
Have been in the workshop today getting on with the chair restoration.
The main shot above is the piece of wood I am turning for the 'rail' on the chair to be fitted in to the holes in the legs (already there). it has taken me a few hours to turn it down to the correct diameter of 13mm which is what the others are. I had to be careful so as not to work it to heavily in case the 'rail' snapped while in the lathe. The length of the 'rail' is 385mm but I will have to cut a little off so I can squeeze it into the holes. I will be glueing it in.
You will see in THE EXTRA the finished 'Rail' pushed into one of the leg holes. This will give you an idea of how much work was involved in turning it.
This is 13mm diameter along the length of it.
The chair itself is ready sanded awaiting this repair. Once I have glued the 'rail' in, I will leave it to dry and set, then I will stain the chair a
Georgian Mahogany colour.
Further progress will be blipped.
Hope you are all having a nice weekend.
Take care.
