Mother's weekend continues ...

I'm so overcome by the exuberance of a day worthy of Spring that I'm posting three photos to remind me of it. The main one is of the rather lovely little cake that the London half of my family sent me - lemon, with fondant icing - which took on an extra wonder by being eaten in the garden, where we had our lunch in the sun. 

The other two photos are of flowers - the Mother's Day bouquet now opening nicely in a vase that belonged to my mother, and a purple crocus that actually had a chance to open without being drowned. I found it while I was doing the first spot of gardening for 2016 - pruning the Rosa Rugosa which was already covered in green sprouts.
