'Comfort from Kindness'
This morning A & I were stewarding at this quilting exhibition which is part of of the Quilting, Stitching & Hobbycrafts Exhibition at the SECC. The story behind the exhibition is amazing. Women in Canada met together to make quilts during WW2 which the Red Cross sent to Britain for families who lost so much during air raids. The women were not well off and used any scraps of material they had. Some were the patches left from the feed sacks they used to make their clothes. The manufacturers of the sacks realised that the women could not afford to buy material for clothes so began to print the cloth for their sacks. This meant that the women then made sure that their husbands brought back enough of the same patterned sacks to make the required clothes.
One such print can be seen in the extra - the yellow & orange print.
