Green striped spider
Spider week - day 7
Well here we are, the final day of spider week. It has been a tremendous learning journey for me and no doubt a harrowing one for some of you. However, the blip response has been awesome, with lots of stars and hearts. The comments have been marvelous and very encouraging, even from the phobic's amongst you.
I have been saving today's spider until last for a number of reasons, because it is web based, it is easily accessible should I have a weak day. Secondly, it had proven to be a very difficult subject to get sharp. due to the open area of its location, it is a bit breezy, causing movement of the web. The web is on a bank across a gutter, making close-up work a bit of a strain. Also, the web is nearly always in shadow, giving exposure/speed problems. I have been trying all kinds of combinations and I got my best shots this morning.
In folio, I have put a few other views of the green stripe and other spiders that I captured this morning. I have also included a couple of new jumping spiders, the second of which was worryingly large. Normally jumping spiders are very tiny, around 7mm to 10mm across, the gray jumper was about an inch across and incredibly fast and very aware of my presence. In fact, every time I attempted to get a side view, it turned around to face me, quite unnerving being only a foot away.
I have also included another spider porn shot that I collected a few days ago, much clearer than the day two shot and of a different spider again.
It has been a most enjoyable week for me, I hope you enjoyed it even half as much. I have an idea for another week series, but I think I will relax for a few days first, a series does pile on the pressure somewhat.
