Spare Parts

Joshua Davis, author of the book Spare Parts: Four Undocumented Teenagers, One Ugly Robot, and the Battle for the American Dream, gave several lectures on campus over the last two days.  I had the great privilege of having lunch with him today and learning more about this wonderful, talented writer.  If you haven't read the book or seen the movie based on the book, I'd suggest that both are worth your time. 

A humble and gracious man, I was impressed with his personal story as well as the many other true stories that he writes about.  For more stories Joshua has written or edited, you can check out his online publication, Epic Magazine. I found "The Cold War" one of the stories on the Epic Magazine website, to be hilarious and eye-opening. 

I am thankful to work at a place that cares enough to bring folks like Joshua Davis to campus for thought-provoking discussions.
