dinliltla*
We awoke to snow here today - and not just a dusting but a proper covering with more falling. But even letting Pushka out first thing it felt warm & I was kinda sure it wasn't going to last at our level - so a quick breakfast and up onto the Fells. I have a new arrangement with Pushka (I've explained it at length as we walk along - but I'm not sure she's really paying attention though...) - I'll give her two one hour sessions a day - & she can choose how she spends them now she's becoming a grand old lady. Sometimes we'll she'll stop & sniff every lump of grass & protruding rock - rarely do we race around any more - but every so often - especially on days like these - when the world turns into the environment for which she was born - well on those days she just goes mad. We hunt, stalk, run, pounce and dig into drifts - and suddenly one hour has become two - an old lady is a puppy again.
*dinliltla is the Inuit 'word' for little balls of snow that cling to a husky. It's often said, sadly wrongly, that there are fifty words for snow - and whilst most are in fact linguistic variances and suffixed or compounded words some are just funny to know. But all the same - this is a fabulous word.
For anyone curious about the slightly blue tinge to this - I've tweaked it as much as reasonable in Snapseed as it was taken by phone through a waterproof case! - this is the best I can do - conditions in extra!
