Fruit Stand
Most of the action at our mercado in Zihuatanejo is on the streets surrounding the actual enclosed market and it is no different here in Patzcuaro. What is different is that the market area is three or four times as large. The market itself is a total warren of stalls and stands. It seems much more chaotic, but that might be a function of size or familiarity on my part. The stalls on the surrounding streets are well organized and the merchandise is presented beautifully - as illustrated here by this fruit vendor. This photo unfortunately doesn't show how tight and crowded everything is, but even so the vendors do everything possible to make there wares look different than their neighbors. We succumbed to the strawberries from these guys with which Shelley promises to make a pie.
