Big Night Out
Went to the drive-in tonight, along with hundreds of families jostling for space in front of the three huge screens of the 5 Drive-in (See here for daytime view) . Then we parked on a slope, pulled out the deckchairs, cranked up the car radios and sat in the warm evening air in shorts and t-shirts staring at the images projected onto a giant screen 75 metres away.
Great experience, although the choice of film wasn't the best decision ever. Disney animated movies always send me to sleep and Brave was determined not to be the exception.
Still, I thought, as I awoke, feeling chilly, just as the credits flickered across the screen minutes before midnight, it's like climbing Everest: an experience with which to regale a pair of awed (or bored) grandkids for years to come. Uh, oh, count that out, they're here with us, Kyle at one side of me, snoring, Cameron at the other, on his mother's knee, wailing about going home since five minutes after the movie started.
Good job it didn't rain.
