This bunch is separated from the steers and dry cows and a few look like they're ready to calve any day. It's a bit early for the Bitterroot calves. they usually come in March. On the eastern side of the Divide, they calve in February because it's cold and dry. The Bitterroot and Big Hole Valley ranchers breed to drop in March because February is generally cold and wet. Not this year....or last. Hmmmm....
