When time stands still

Sadly, time remains at a standstill in this shopping centre in the Hampshire town  of Totton.
I had high hopes that a seemingly fresh lease of life for this precinct in the heart of the town would include refurbishment or even replacement of the clock.  But that was many months ago, and the timepiece in the centre of the town is still out of action.
For that matter, it seems as though the months that it has not been working has extended into a few years.
Or maybe it is thought that clocks in public places are  thing of the past, now that almost everyone who walks by will have the time instantly available in their hands in the shape of a mobile phone. Or on their wrist.
Sorry. I am sufficiently old fashioned to think that clocks in public places do serve a purpose. Especially when the clockface is still there.
Again, I think I have sufficient wisdom to believe that the presence of a clock which clearly doesn’t work in a prominent public place does nothing to enhance the image of its location.

It’s time that it was restored!
