Scrawny Old Man

Shetland 9 Kame of Isbister

Another misty day, another coast walk - another good one, but on a clear day it would have been stunning. Went to Isle of Fethaland, not actually an island but the northern tip of Mainland Shetland joined by a narrow neck of land with an old fishing station. Back along the coast you get to this outcrop, Kame of Isbister. If you go big you can see traces of old walls on the grassy patch at the top - this is marked on the map in olde writing as 'Settlement'. Not a hospitable place, or an easy one to get to. Now it's lost in the mists of time.
You should be able to see the island of Yell in the background but it's lost in the mists of mist.
