Three-peat

We purchased this living room furniture four houses and three provinces ago. It is special to us because we used money that had been given to me through my grandparent's estate. The draperies joined the furniture when we moved into our first home in Ontario and they have moved from home to home together with us ever since.

Of course, windows being windows - always unique, never the same size - the draperies have had to be remade and retrofitted with every move because they were too long, too short, too narrow and too wide all at the same time in all the wrong places. Along the way, a sewing machine was purchased for this purpose and it has paid for itself many times over.

This wasn't a job that I was looking forward to, particularly because this time the curtains were much too short. After a few trips to the hardware store, creative use of electrical conduit, tape and eye bolts, a little bit of velcro, oodles of pinning (and pinpricks), some easy sewing, and a LOT of patience, the curtains were lowered to the correct length and the valance was remade for a custom fit.

It has taken about a year and a half since the last move, but the living room curtains are installed!
