Praying Mantis watching me.

This is the only photo I took today and if this praying mantis hadn't been sitting on the deck upright, then I would have had nothing to blip. I don't know whether it is the New Zealand mantis or the interloper from South Africa. My insect book said the NZ one has the blue patch in the inside of a front femur and was a uniformly bright green in colour. I think this is the undesirable one.

It was very small - about 4cm long. I love the pointy toe.
